Today’s reflection: The different faces of monotony

❤️……..sandy dirt………….crunch….crunch…..crunch…………..and into the olive groves we go…………………..green…………..brown……………..dry……………………………..a stream……….mud…………..hate mud……………back to the trees………………….rows and rows of trees……………and off in the distance the sounds of those weird olive tree branch vibrators…..and then more trees…………..trees……………..brown lines of dirt moving past……………….the arrows have forgotten to take their medication again………thanks walter…………..thanks peter for the written guide……………..just imagine…………imagine…………….imagine no structure, no guide……….lost in the sea of trees, australian pilgrim found wandering the olive groves weeks later, dishevelled, dehydrated, delusional……………and guess what? there are more trees………….and there go the knees, starting to talk…………………i mustnt forget the ibuprofen cream tomorrow…….and everyone back in santiago…………and everyone back in brisbane…………..and jose……….everyone everywhere…………..and the grassy taste of the olive oil from the night before………and how that hot soup felt going down…………avoid sticky mud while walking around a lake with no water……………no birds…….no ducks……………….and how many kilometres to go?……….still, the trees…….dusty green cornrows adorning the dessicated hillsides……….oh and bless, here are some donkeys posing for the camera, and fat guinea fowl darting about, chooks pecking, horses, peacocks (!), and about five (barking) dogs……………this little pocket of diversity gives me a good jolt of energy to push through the last damned olive grove……….towards the light………..still, sometimes we stop, and we look back…………..we can see the town that we came from, off in the distance……..against a backdrop of majestic blue grey mountains……there is a sense of distance travelled…..how far we came in one day just with our feet………………………….❤️
