graffiti

valparaiso, 2015

we sit

on a train,

travelling together.

side by side.

i think of you,

i think i know you.

now,

i am

watching unexpected landscapes

fly past

the window.

a loud voice.

your face.

one moment.

images,

sounds,

become

grey.

graffiti on a wall

somewhere,

waiting to be cleaned.

my seat rocks gently

from side to side.

the sounds

of wheels on tracks,

dutifully following predestined lines.

eyes close.

a cinema screen

lights up.

music starts.

red velvet curtains

pull apart.

empty holographs

from the past,

moving

in the darkness.

i am jolted awake

by another passenger

pushing past me,

through this crowded train.

you are gone.
